The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society has established clearly defined goals and objectives for our 400th commemoration activities.
We have codified them in our 400th commemoration preamble for our chapter presidents and for our membership. They include:

- How to advance the mission;
- Our national initiatives; and
- A chronology of the first documented Africans in English North America.
