The host AAHGS chapter for this year's conference is Family Quest of Philadelphia, PA. The conference will be held at the Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, PA.
The AAHGS Annual Conference is the largest international African American conference that promotes African-ancestored family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by bringing together subject matter experts that promote scholarly research, provide resources for historical and genealogical studies, create a network of persons with similar interests, and assist members in documenting their histories.
From Tuesday, Oct. 9 though Thursday, Oct. 11, enjoy three days of pre-conference tours of the historic sites of Philadelphia.
On Thursday evening, the conference officially begins with. If this is your first conference, you should attend First Time Attendee Orientation.
On Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, choose from twenty scholarly presentations on a variety of genealogical topics including advanced genealogical research techniques, antebellum research, the history of the African-American community in America, and more. During the morning, lunch, and evening sessions enjoy a variety of renowned speakers.
You must register by September 17 to qualify for the reduced "Early Bird" registration fee. Full Conference Registration includes a printed conference syllabus, all sessions and presentations, Thursday evening reception, Friday and Saturday luncheons, Friday dinner and Saturday night Awards Banquet. You can purchase meal tickets for your spouse and other traveling companions who is not registered for the conference during the registration process.
AAHGS will do its best to accommodate the dietary and accessibility requirements of our conference attendees. Mention any such requests must be mentioned during registration. You will be contacted by conference staff to discuss your specific needs.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing and postmarked no later than September 1st, forty-five (45) days before the first day of the conference. All cancellations will be subject to a $70.00 processing fee.
Our cancellation policy is firm and not subject to exceptions.
If you are concerned that you may have to cancel (due to illness, death in the family, or other unforeseen circumstances), you may purchase trip cancellation/ travel insurance from the company of your choice to reimburse you for conference fees and travel expenses.

The Valley Forge Casino Resort recommends Tropiano Airport Shuttle (http://www.tropianoshuttle.com / ) for $29 cash / $34 credit card and $53 round trip. Shuttles depart from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Ground Transportation Area and returns to the airport on an hourly basis. The last pickup at the airport is 11 pm. The last pickup at the hotel is 6:00 pm. The distance is 18 miles and is approximately 28 minutes away. Reservations are advised, especially for the return trip to the airport since the service only stops at the hotel when a reservation has been made.
