AAHGS CONTINUES REGISTRATION PREPARATIONS;

TWO WEEKS REMAIN FOR CALL FOR PAPERS

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) continues preparations to open registration for the virtual 2021 annual conference, as it seeks to exceed the organization’s 2020 record-number of 775 registrants. The 2021 conference subject areas for presentations include: DNA Testing; Educational Sources and Methods; Ethnicity, Race and Nationality; Family Presentation; Genealogy; History; Migration; Military; Preservation; Research; and Special Topics.

AAHGS President Baba Gene Stephenson said two weeks remaining for presenters to respond to the Call for Papers. “We continue to receive and review responses to  the Call for Papers, as we finalize plans for opening up registration for the 2021 conference.  We will receive papers up to June 30, 2021. ”  Interested persons should go to the website: https://aahgs.org/conference, for details in the Call for Papers section. The 2021 theme is “Genealogy as History, History as Genealogy: The Duality of Discovering Your Ancestors.”

The 2020 conference featured a wide array of scholars on subjects including DNA testing, writing and publishing family history, digital research and usage of funeral programs for genealogical research.
