AAHGS ANNOUNCES CALL FOR PAPERS

FOR VIRTUAL 2021 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society has issued a Call for Papers for its 2021 Annual Conference, taking place virtually this October. Interested persons should go to the website: https://aahgs.org/conference, for details in the Call for Papers section. The 2021 theme is “Genealogy as History, History as Genealogy: The Duality of Discovering Your Ancestors.” The announcement was made by AAHGS President Baba Gene Stephenson.

Details on registration for the virtual conference will be announced soon.

Genealogists and those researching family history often find their family history intersects with American and Pan African history. This year’s virtual conference will drill into how history comes alive just by researching family lineage and legacies.

“AAHGS strives to preserve Afro-American and African-ancestored family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by teaching research techniques and disseminating information throughout the community where our Chapters are located,” Stephenson said. “Our primary goals are to promote scholarly research; provide resources for enriching and exciting historical and genealogical studies; create a network of persons with similar interests; and assist members in the understanding the importance of documenting their histories.

The deadline for Papers is June 30, 2021.
